When creating a portrait of a musical icon, Katherine immerses herself in the unique energy which flows through each of her subjects. Musicians communicate through their music. “I hear their music and see them through it”, she explains. “I am able through particular color combinations to recreate the vibrational frequency of the musicians, who they are, their music, their voice, their words.”

  “Before I can really see them I have to feel them, all the qualities which make them who they are. So many of the great ones are like electrical conductors. The music moves through them with such power I believe they would explode if they couldn’t releases it. Sometimes I feel as though the images are blasted into the canvas. I wouldn’t be surprised to see one walk off the wall.”

  The intense colors Katherine chooses to interpret her work are directly related to their vibrational frequency which correlates to her practice of yoga and the body’s inner energy chakra system.

  The power and intensity of the paintings can best be appreciated when seen in person. There is a depth to the work which insures its timelessness. The paintings shimmer with nuance. Katherine’s paintings are entities in their own right. She often selects her subjects based on personal choice but does accept commissions when approached with a prospect she finds interesting. “There’s always something compelling about a creative individual.”


The Process . . . . . .

  I have spoken with many who say that they cannot even draw stick figures, but I try to encourage everyone to discover their own unique creative outlet. It is my belief that everyone has the ability of creativity within them.
